QUICK STORY! A 23 year journey!!!

5th-10th pics: Ultra marathon, weight lifting, life-changing colon surgery, living my best life!

In 1997 while in college, I joined Jenny Craig (JC) because at 5’3”, I weighed about the same as my 6’4” boyfriend. I lost 45 pounds in 7 months and although I reached my “goal” weight, I was a hot mess.

I was exciting on 800 calories per day doing excessive amounts of cardio.

The scale weight dictated my entire mood for the entire day if I did not lose weight and much worse if I gained.

I was fearful of strength training because JC said don’t lift because muscle weighed more than fat and all we cared about was the number of that dam scale.

I became unhappy, irritable, stressed and grumpy because my ENTIRE LIFE revolved around not eating, eating pre packed JC meals, starving, and cardio. I would not eat before weigh ins. I would compulsively exercise before weigh-ins. And I would be sure to use the bathroom right before a weigh in, wearing as light as clothes as possible. I was obsessed and it was making me BONKERS!

My AHA moment or wake up call when was I finally reached my goal weight. I thought I would be SO HAPPY and that life was going to be so PERFECT. When I felt as bad as I did stepping on the scale, despite seeing my achieved goal weight, I knew the healthy decision was to cut my ties with JC and start my own journey.
